    "Can not create DirectShow Player"

This is the message that I get when I'm trying to view something that is, normally, a WMV or WMA file. Furthermore, I'm not able to load Windows Media Player either. I've tried to reinstall it (can't find where to uninstall it), but it's just not working.

What I mean is like... those videos on say MLB.com. I have no idea what this DirectShow Player thing is. It's worked before.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Can anyone help out here? I believe it's also affected my ESPN BottomLine and other things.

        Try reinstalling directx from microsoft.

        Directshow is part of directx.

        You could also look into

        it mentions

When you try to start Microsoft Windows Media Player, you may receive an "An internal application error has occurred" (or a similar) error message.

        as a symptom

Only other option I can think of is to boot into safe mode, go to the add/remove programs and get rid of WMP, then reboot and reinstall WMP.

Tried this, now I just opened up a bigger can of worms! For some reason, it seems that my Internet Explorer is gone! I can't access my Volume Control, Sound Recorder... I know longer have Paint, Calculator... I can't search for things in my Search program... and on top of it all, Windows Media Player STILL isn't working.

What in the hell is going on with my computer!?
