    MUST-SEE Rentals

Ok, everytime I go to Blockbuster, I have this dilemna. Basically I'll go around throughout the entire store looking for a movie. Through this 30-45 minute process, I would find about 2-3 movies that I would find appealing. Then I would circle around again, questioning my decision. Then, this happened recently, I would come home with a movie that would just totally suck (Silent Hill) So I figured maybe I can make a thread that you can post movies that you've rented that is worthy of a MUST-SEE rating.

So can you recommend any good movies out as of late?

I could, but think about it.

Even if you watch the movies suggested, you'd still want to see a movie like Silent Hill.

I just don't ask people for advice on movies (only on that rare movie I've never seen). The point in me having Blockbuster Online is to see movies I've either always wanted to see or thought about seeing.

You were disappointed with Silent Hill. But, you only know that because you watched it. My advice is to just watch what you want to watch.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Thats very true and I totally agree with that. Thats why this is a POSITIVE THREAD about movies. I dont want comments that say this movie sucks, dont rent it. This is just a thread to mention must-see movies.

That way if there is something I see that wasnt mentioned here that I like, I'll still watch it good or bad.

I like movies that force me to think about what's going on. Some people probably hate them, but I like them.

        Example: 11:14 and Memento.

I don't know if you might like stuff like that, though.

The last must see movie I saw was Good Fellas and it's old (I finally saw it about two months ago).

*A little bit of everything, though I do own them all. Kind of hard to recommend "rentals", which in my book relates to inferiority. The ones I like end up being purchased, so those I rent and don't buy...frankly suck.*

Dr. Strangelove (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb)

          Heat

          Amadeus

          Fargo

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess you wanted recent movies...in which case they ALL suck

I'm going to be a douchebag and recommend you rent Season One of WEEDS (aka the most underrated show on television).

I thought Silent Hill was pretty good and recommend it.

Just to add my 2 cents...Batman Begins was really good, a great way to pass 2 hours. Also, like someone said above, Amadeus. Im an old fashion meat and potatoes action movie fan, and an old girlfriend made me watch it. It is one of my all time faves. A great story!

if youre looking for some recently good action thrillers, Inside Man, 16 Blocks, and Running Scared were really good movies.

I guess I have to mention Equilibrium, like always.

And if you haven't seen Spiderman (1 & 2) yet, get on it! Same goes for Saw.

Anchorman (why anyone wouldn't own this boggles my mind)

All of the Monty Python movies (I know, not recent, but awesome)

                      Uh... there it is.

Anchorman is right up there with 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' in my list of recent movies that SUCK...hard! Maybe I'm just getting too old

If we are talking great comedies though, I agree with the Monty Python's (peep 'Life of Brian'), as well as 'Clerks'. 'Chasing Amy' is another Kevin Smith gem, and believe it or not, most chicks will dig it...despite the copious profanity (my wife LOVES the movie, and I even jacked some of the soliloquy when I was stealing her from her loser ex back in the day). Good times!

I second 16 Blocks, I was very impressed by that when I saw it about a week ago. Still gotta rent Inside man.

Totally spaced this, and it's right on my shelf. Amazing movie right there...one of my "Top Ten" of all time. Excellent, excellent film!

RENT THIS ONE FIRST...RIGHT NOW...GET UP, GO TO BLOCKBUSTER, AND CHECK IT OUT!
