I don't know if any of you are interested, but tonight at 8:00 on ESPN2 is the 2006 DCI (Drum Corps International....read marching band) Championships. I'm a member of my high school's marching band, so to me this is pretty exciting.

I would have loved to watch this. I was in marching band back in the late 1980's, and got to experience what it's like to take a band from one of the worst overall in the state of Kentucky (freshman season) to arguably the best band in the state of Kentucky (senior season). In fact, it was my class that basically started my high school program off for the success they had for years and years afterwards. Band is "different", to be sure, but having a very competitive marching band is not as easy as one (someone that isn't involved in music) would think. BTW, I really, really liked the "The Planets" show that the Cavaliers from Rosemont, Illinois, did back in 1995 (I think). My high school did the same show (slightly watered down to fit high school level musical talent), and had the overall highest finals score (and the band was one of the smaller ones there) in the entire 1996 KMEA Marching Band Championships.
