I still don't understand what's so scary and stalker-ish (is that even a word?) about this new feature.

I mean if your profile on facebook is public, anybody can see what you have done, written, what group you are part of, without seeing a newsfeed.

I just think if you want to protect your privacy, then you might as well just quit facebook or make your facebook completely private.

But, complaining about it is so chic right now.

Precisely. The whole outcry about it makes me laugh -- talk about an overreaction.

i'll preface this by saying that I do have a facebook, but i check it once every few months (so not the typical facebook user, i'm old).

I understand people not wanting the newsfeed stuff. Sure, everything is public in your profile no matter what, but do you want facebook getting on a megaphone and trumpeting every minor change?

It's not really a privacy issue, to me it'd be more of an issue that people don't need to be notified with exactly what changed when, just show people that my profile's updated, and if they want to check it out so be it.

Again, i barely ever check my facebook, nor do I change my information, so this doesn't affect me, but i can see for people who use it often how it'd be very annoying.

I should change my status to "Adam is masturbating" and see how well that goes over.

well if you look at this thread and other people outside of OS complaining, they aren't complaining about it being annoying, a lot of them think it's stalkerish.

anyways this doesn't compare to the private profile feature on myspace. Now that just defeats the purpose of a social networking site LOL

                        Re: New facebook format

I don't like it because it clutters the site.

I was fine with facebook because the site layout was simple.

The news-feeds, however, actually come up right in the middle of your profile. It's like, YankeePride is a male from the Bronx, NY and then BAM! he updated his profile two hours ago, he is now friends with ILUVFACES!, and then contact information, life, interests.

                        It's annoying.
