    Against Circuit City

The reason for this is because I am trying to change the mind of peopel who shop at Circuit City for any kind of deals on electronics, or want that nice plasma tv for a lower price. Well if your looking to buy anything electronic, I would stay way from Circuit City. Their customer service is horrible compared to other stores, and their policy is even worse.

Over the latter of two months, I have been trying to get myself a new televsion that is Circuit City repair policy. My televsion died a couple of months ago, Circuit City sent over a repairman to look at my TV. The repairman classified the televsion has defective. I went back to Circuit City and they told me that they can not replace my televsion with out corporate knowing. So we contacted corporate, and they signed off on a replacement televsion. Now Circuit City is saying that they need someone else to look at my television as the person who did look at my televsion is out for a couple of months. I told them that person was enough and that I would like my television replaced. Finally tonight (September 12), I was supposed to get my television replaced, but they told me that they would replace my TV with a used model! I got furious and when I wanted to speak to the Store mananger, the staff at Circuit City would not let me speak to her.

Now, why am I posting this on OS? I'm giving everybody a heads up about Circuit City, how bad of a customer service opertive they are. If I had the chance for a refund, I'd take it, but I don't have that opportunity.

If you're going to buy TV's, go to Good Guys.

The Good Guys got sued a couple months ago in California. Due to this they are not located (at least to my knowledge) anywhere in CA

I dont buy anything at CC anymore unless its a DVD I cant find anywhere else. We had similar problems trying to replace a stereo back when I was in high school.

I stick with Best Buy. Never had a problem with them.

Wow, shows how long it's been since my family has bought a TV. I can't believe they got bought out by CompUSA in 2003. Can't believe they're not around anymore.

Oh well, they WERE the best.

don't bother with the store any more, call the corporate number, if you don't have it, just call the customer service number and tell them you want to speak to a supervisor

I don't think Good Guys is out East. I've never heard of them.

I actually prefer Circuit City over Best Buy. I can't stand Best Buy. The CC near my house is very good whereas the BB employees hound people the minute they walk into the door. It annoys me.

I can't stand either the Circuit Cities or Best Buys.. it seems that anytime I go there I usually get someone following me around that keeps trying to "help" me... one time at Best Buy it took my dad & I 3 hours to buy digital cameras because of the incompetent staff... Unfortunately they are a "necessary evil"

                  Re: Against Circuit City

I 100% agree about Circuit City.

About a month ago I went there to buy my first receiver. I saw a nice, basic Sony model that fit the description of what I was looking for. I also noticed that they only had the "floor model" left (obviously the actual one I was looking at) and they offered it at 25% off. So I found a sales associate in the store and asked him a few questions and then I told him I'd take it.

So he rings me up at one of the registers in the middle of the store and hands me the recipt and says "Thank you" and then walks away. So I'm slightly confused, but I've purchased things at CC before so I figured I just had to walk up the main register upfront and they'd give me the box and accessories. So I walk up there and the girl at the register tells me it's a floor model that I purchased and I had to go get it.

So she finds the sales rep who rung me up and asked him what the situation was. Apparently he just unplugged the receiver I had bought from it's display and walked away. He didn't tell me that I was just suppose to take it and walk out of the store with it in my hands, with no box or accessories. What if it was raining out? How am I suppose to know this? I've never purchased a floor model before. He just assumed I knew what to do. Bad move, never assume things.

So I then say, "You're telling me now, after I've purchased this, that it doesn't come with a remote control, extra cables, etc?!" He then said, "Well I'll just find you a nice universal remote." I told him not to bother, I walked out of the store w. the receiver in my hands, dropped it off in my car and walked to the Best Buy at the other end of the plaza to buy my control.

I'll never buy something from CC again.

When I buy my next HDTV, it will be at Costco. They have terrific prices and their return policy is unbeatable.

Best Buy and Circuit City are pretty much the same. Whether you have good or bad experiences depends on the employees in the store you go to.

The thing I've been doing more of lately, is buying everything online. The only stuff I get at CC/BB anymore are movies. Although if I want to see a new model of an HDTV, I'll go to CC since I'm not hounded by their employees like I am at the BB near me.

Regarding buying stuff online - I bought my HDTV online. I bought my reciever online. I bought my surround sound system online. I bought my universal remote online.

It alleviates all the in-store problems that I don't like and most items can be found much cheaper even with shipping/handling costs (ie: $1000 reciever was purchased for $500 online). Of course, I haven't had to return/exchange anything. I'm sure it wouldn't be a huge problem though.....just some time/energy out of my day.

Exact opposite with me. I've had good experiences with CC, crummy experiences with BB.

I also find the BB in my area to be much more disorganized and staffed by bigger imbeciles than CC.

I'm a happy CC customer. Your mileage may vary.

                          Take care,

Agreed. Costco is the way to go.

My wife and I bought a new TV shortly after we were married. A little over a month goes by and we noticed that the price dropped $400. We couldn't believe it. So we called them and told them we were just beyond the 30 day limit to get the refund - they passed us along to the store manager... We were ready to fight it hard, but the guy just said - sure, bring in your receipt and tell them you talked with me.

Costco does rock because of that. I've returned TVs and computers to them, a year or more since I bought it. They took it back no problem.
