    Re: Grey's Anatomy, Season 3

Good episode last night. Alex and Addison hooking up was good.

As for the whole Isaiah Washington thing, I think he will eventually be fired unless he gets the cast to welcome him back and forgive him. He just released an apology and admitted using the word (http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7006187445). That was the weirdest thing about this new stuff in that he denied using the word. Someone had to be lying and I'm glad he came clean.

Glad Washington admitted he has a problem and hope he's able to make amends. He does great work on the show, but behavior like that is completely unacceptable.

I read his apology and he certainly sounds contrite.

I watched this show last night for the first time in a few weeks and I don't know but it's just gotten more and more soap-opera-ish. When it came out it was about the hospital stuff and the romance stuff about 50-50, or maybe even slightly tilting to what they were going through in the hospital, but now it's like 80% romance and drama about their personal lives. I'm not sure I'm going to continue to watch much longer if it continues down this road.

I don't know... George's dad dying seems kinda.. hospital-ish to me, but.. whatever.

No, it's soap-opera'ish because it's his dad. I'm talking about regular hospital cases. That's my whole point, the show has become all about the personal lives of the cast instead of being at all about the medical lives of the cast.

Were you expecting another ER...because that is still on TV and why would people want to watch the same show twice? Just my opinion.

Seems like it was about 50-50 to me. You had Addison/Alex, George's dad and Meredith's dad vs. the sick baby, the girl with the messed up spine and again, George's dad. There wasn't much focus on burke and whats her name. Seems pretty even to me. I thought this past episode was very good. It was a tear jerker.

No, just how it was when it began, dealing more with their knowledge (or lack of) in the hospital and how they were learning, etc. The relationships were there but it was not predominant like they are now.

Well it's their 3rd year. In the beginning they didn't have any relationships and no knowledge. Now they do.

What about the girl with the spine issue?

Its the third year of the show but the characters haven't even been at Seattle Grace a year yet, weird huh? They should be coming up to a year soon though. I believe internships are only about a year and then you go into a multi-year residency program. I wonder how the show will handle that. I do think they should focus some episodes on them learning doctor stuff though.

Also, I read this on imdb today:
Isaiah Washington is on the verge of being fired from hit TV show Grey's Anatomy, according to media reports in the US. Washington sparked a public backlash last week when he denied calling co-star TR Knight "a f****t" during a press conference at the Golden Globe Awards. And now, according to E! Online reporter Kristin Veitch, executives at ABC are looking for ways to sack the troubled star, who plays Dr. Preston Burke on the show. She writes on her blog, "(I) just received word from a highly placed source within the Touchstone/ABC family that ABC and Disney executives are currently considering the option of firing Isaiah Washington from Grey's Anatomy, effective immediately, without having him appear in any kind of farewell episode. According to this reliable source, if the network does follow through with this option, the producers are likely to run a full-screen announcement at the beginning of the first Burke-less episode that announces Isaiah Washington is no longer part of the show. I'm also told by various sources that the loss of Preston Burke is not an easy task for Grey's writing staff to deal with, given that he has a major storyline (including a life-changing event) coming in the next few episodes that air during February sweeps. Those episodes have already been shot." ABC issued a statement last week calling Washington's behavior "unacceptable" and he has since issued an apology and met with gay leaders.
Washington seems a bit like a jerk to me, and if he hurts the show he should be gone. But just making a major character disappear off a show without a farewell show is kinda lame.

That sucks ***... Washington is a jerk and all that but the dude is the best actor on the show, hands down. Followed by T.K. in my opinion.. it's weird how they have beef off-camera but on-camera they have the best chemistry.

I hope Washington stays. I think this decision will be soley based on how the cast feels about him. If they want him back he'll be back. The gay and lesbian groups seem ok with his apology and haven't called for his head yet. Viewership went from 22 to 23 million after this whole fuss happened. I think most fans of the show don't want to see Burke just disappear. If they fire Washington, I wonder if they would choose another actor to just fill the character like a soap opera or write Burke completely off the show.
