*** Veronica Mars: Season 3 ***

Thanks to DVD box sets for allowing me to get into Veronica Mars. I’m finally done watching Season 1 and 2. This is a fantastic and well written show. I’m completely hooked to the show. Looking around the web, this show has an extremely passionate fan base.

Overall I enjoyed Season 1 more than Season 2 because the main mystery was more personal to Veronica. I was blown away by how good both season finales were. Both of the killers totally caught me by surprise. I can't imagine anybody but Kristen Bell playing Veronica Mars.

Any show that has Steve Guttenberg is a winner in my books.

The Season 1 DVD only has deleted scenes as bonus material. The Season 2 DVD has deleted scenes, A Day on the Set With Veronica Mars, Veronica Mars: Not Your Average Teen Detective, and a Gag Reel. I enjoyed the behind the scenes tour but I wish it was longer.

Season 3 starts on October 3rd although the episode will be available on the internet on September 26th. I can’t wait to find out what’s in the briefcase and why Keith didn’t meet Veronica at the airport.

Mac and Sherriff Don Lamb are now featured main cast members. I’m disappointed that Duncan Kane will no longer be on the show.

Rob Thomas said there will be 3 main story arcs this season rather than one that lasts the whole season. He also doesn't want to rely too much on past history so new fans can quickly get into the show. I read that if the ratings don’t improve, there’s a chance the show will get cancelled. I hope this doesn’t happen.

I thought his motivation made sense. The 2 other students were going to out him while Cassidy wanted the sexual abuse to remain a secret. He thought he committed the perfect crime because there were so many other suspects.

I thought the writers did a really good job of having a lot of sub-plots that tied into the main plot. Although some have said it was too confusing to keep track of everything.

I know why they said he did it, but he really did it because he's a sociopath. No remotely normal person would send a bus of their classmates over a cliff to hide that they were a victim of sexual assault years ago...especially not an intelligent 17-year old millionaire.

Basically, he kills indiscriminately without remorse and he raped, at least, two women so he's just crazy like that. Explanations like this after a season long mystery just feel cheap to me.

I'm not saying the show was bad. The ending was just very underwhelming.

I get where you're coming from. The point you make is what I have read elsewhere from people that weren't big fans of him being the bad guy. Up until the last episode, Cassidy seemed like a decent guy although he was picked on by his older brother. There was nothing to indicate he was willing to kill so many innocent people just to protect his secret.

As for the rapes, I'm pretty sure he only raped Veronica. I imagine you think the 2nd victim was Mac. She went for a shower and I believe Cassidy just took her clothes so she wouldn't go outside the room to alert other people.

I think it's clear that Mac was raped. It was already established that she was a virgin and Cassidy was her first sexual relationship.

If Mac left the shower and found Cassidy gone with her clothes, it's unlikely that she would react by curling up naked in the corner of the room, clutching a pillow, crying that "he took EVERYTHING" unless something else happened.

I believe she said "everything" anyway. That was awhile ago. If she had just said "he took my clothes," I wouldn't think she had been raped.

The only thing I can think of that points to her not being raped is that Cassidy has very little time to actually do it. However, I would imagine a healthy portion of attacks of this nature in the real world last a couple minutes or less.

That and the fact that it was a bunch of no-name *******s who died didnt help either. Just didnt have near the emotional punch that season 1 did.

Still looking forward to season 3 though. I love Kristen Bell!

I just re-watched the last 20 minutes of the finale, and it's not clear if Mac was raped or not.

When Logan and Veronica found Mac, she did say "He took my clothes, he took everything, why?". But just like what you said, it's almost impossible for Cassidy to have raped her because of the time factor. When Mac was in the shower, Cassidy saw the text message from Veronica and then he replied to meet on the roof. After that he pulled his out gun from his bag. Veronic saw Aaron Echolls inside the elevator and then once she was on the roof, Cassidy appeared.

I looked around the web, and it seems like nobody knows for sure if Mac was raped or not. Perhaps this will be explained on the first episode of Season 3.

And I don't see how anyone thinks Mac was raped, IIRC they were going to have sex but Cassidy couldn't get it up. I think was a repressed homosexual personally.

I dont remember thinking she was raped either but something she says in this newest episode makes it sound like she was.

Well I guess we don't know the timeline of how long Veronica was on the roof, maybe she was there 30 minutes and Cassidy raped Mac then.

Cassidy has power issues...He can get it up during rape (Veronica and Mac), but not in a normal sexual relationship.
