Why in the world would you put ads in a place that will cover up the actual story? I hate ESPN.

ESPN.com's new ads
What the hell is wrong with ESPN?? OK there I am trying to read a story about the Bears and out comes this stupid ad for GMC right on where the story begins. Basically it blocks out part of the story, about 3-4 words of every line. There is no "Close" button, and all it has is a "stop" "play" "fast forward" button.

Re: ESPN.com's new ads
Because the advertiser is probably willing to pay ESPN more money because the ad type ensures eyeballs will be watching unobstructed. ESPN does not give one half of a dingleberry if it upsets viewers, because they know you will keep coming back, regardless of how angry you may be; they know they are really the only game in town. Even if you don't come back, there are plenty of people who will come back, so losing you doesn't really put a chink in their armor. Welcome to economics of scale. Everything with ESPN, like any huge corporation, comes down to the financial bottom line. Any other concerns are secondary, always.
