ESPN Mobile to go the Way of New Coke.

    Courtsey of Deadspin.

    Also Paid Content

    And Reuters

I was soooo close to buying one too. I just needed 1 more commercial and I was going to be hooked.

I suppose I'll just get an ESPN credit card instead.

An even better idea is what there plans are.

refund the full purchasing price of the phones, and provide the mobile espn as an "application" of sorts for many diff. carriers.

that shouldve been there orginial plan.

work with the big boys and create an add on for 5-10 bucks a month for the current and new people.

Why? So you can pay 17.9 percent APR just for the privilege of having an ESPN logo on your card?

Yeah that would have been way better especially the rise with internet phones like the Q and sidekick type phones.

Agreed. I never saw the point in this and thought it had a good chance of failure from day 1.

Damn, I signed up with ESPN just two months ago. I was really enjoying their service as well.

My APR was a lot lower. But I never look at that anyway since I always pay my monthly bills in full. They had good offers where you save half or more on ESPN products/subscriptions. And since I'm a ESPN insider and magazine subscriber I thought about it.

My apologies that you're a subscriber to both ...

Smart move to pay off all bills each month, man. I've done the same for more than 15 years. You save a LOT of dough doing that, as you don't lose money to interest, and it forces you to be more disciplined in your spending.

It was just a sarcastic joke. Sorry I didn't make it more clear.

Nice. Now they just have to remove SportsCenter.

                            Regardless, it's definitely progress.
