Need some PC help please...
A lot of my programs aren't responding. WMP, iTunes, Adobe, etc. Either they won't open at all or they stop responding a few seconds after I open them and I have to close them. On a side note my screensaver won't work either. My PC is a brand new HP Pavilion desktop with Windows XP. I can't even get HP Support and PC Doctor programs to work. What's funny is that Norton shows all my programs running fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.Tags: None -

Re: Need some PC help please...
possibly a virus problem. since your antivirus program is norton, i take it some virus' fell through.
go to trendmicro.com
And scan your pc. See if anything comes up.
If nothing comes up, try restarting your computer in safe mode by pressing F8 during startup. When in safe mode, see if any of those programs will work.
If they still don't work in safe mode, i would suggest to do a reimage of your pc. Normally they included a Windows XP restore disk when you bought the pc.
I can get into more details when you give me more specifics.Comment

Uninstall Norton... It freezes programs.
Try a different a/v-f/w suite. That will fix your problem, trust me.Comment

Re: Need some PC help please...
Well, I got frustrated and did a full blown system restore. I also uninstalled Norton and got a 90 day free trial of McAfee. So far so good. Thanks fellas, much appreciated. How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? Re: Need some PC help please...
No!!! Uninstall McAfee! Its almost as bad as Norton's. Goto free.grisoft.com and download AVG. After that, you won't ever need another antivirus program.Comment
