    Microsoft Office Student edition

Does anyone here happen to have Microsoft Office - Student Edition?

Did you have to somehow provide proof to the retailer or Microsoft that you were a student?

Is there any kind of student verification process necessary in order to install it?

The reason I ask is that this version(Student Edition) is a lot cheaper($100 - 200) than the Standard Edition and I was looking to purchase it if there was no requirement on providing proof that you were a student.

Otherwise I would have a cousin(who is a student) buy it for me.

    Thanks,
    Warren

My niece purchased it her first year of college. I think they assumed she was
a student. Be aware I believe Student Edition comes without MS Access

It doesn't have Access or MS Project (which I think "might" be a standard feature). Anyway, there is no verification...just a "school" entry box. You have to enter one of the many schools in this fine nation

Seriously, I was worried to about having to delete it after graduation etc...no worries. Good luck!

i have never bought software through my school.

do i go to a local bookstore and get it there, or buy it online and enter a code.

ive never really heard of student discounts, as sad as that sounds

My first MIS major course was Visual Basic and the teacher signed the class up to the Microsoft Student site or whatever it is called. There we could buy any MS software product for the student cost. She gave us a password and username. Otherwise your school should have a link to their campus technology site which would sell the software for a reduced rate for faculty, staff, and students. Those were my two options.

We get Microsoft Office Pro 2003 for $7 at my school. We also get Front Page for $7 as well. They are both great deals.

if you want to go the free route, go to www.openoffice.org.

i am VERY pleased with that, and use it on my windows side of my macbook pro. There are some parts that I like even better than MS Office, and all MS Office files are compatible with openoffice
