    Guys..please have some sympathy (HDTV)

Well, I'll lead this off by posting this link:

So Saturday, I drove 95 miles to the local Best Buy to pick up the Westinghouse 32" LCD HDTV. Well, I LOVED it until Tuesday night, when I discovered my screen had a dead pixel. These things annoy me so bad! I want to get rid of it, because I don't want to drive 95 miles to Johnson City...

It's to all the info anyway. Anyhow, like I said in that thread, I purchased that HDTV a couple of weeks ago, and 'love it. There's just the one problem, and that's the dead pixel.

So you're sitting there, scratching your chin, maybe the little tricky hair spots you missed shaving the other night thinking "Why in the hell is this guy posting this here?" Well, sure, I don't know if it's necessary, but i'm just looking for some motivation to keep playing games on this HDTV. I just hate the feeling of knowing that the dead pixel is "there." I can NOT notice it while i'm playing games, and I know the situation could be much worse if it was red or some sort, but it's a dead, white pixel in the upper right section on my screen that just really bothers me to know that it's there.

I've been told that over time, the pixel will slowly fade out and disappear. Is this true? (Hopefully it is..so I can jump for joy, get a few victory dances in, and then go to bed.)

I don't like to "double post" nor bump threads, but anyone?

If you just bought it a 'couple of weeks ago' I would imagine you should be able to take it back or have it repaired under the warranty. Unless of course you bought it off of the back of someone's truck.

Definitely not to sound like a smart elic or anything, but if you would have read through the thread in the link I posted you would have easily gotten the idea on what i'm really asking.

I read through that thread, and still have no idea what you are asking.

^^ And just like has been said in the thread I posted, I can't take it back. It's not noticeable, but i'm just wondering if there's a possibility that it will fade over time. I appreciate the replies, and your attempts of helping.

It will not fade and you will be taunted by that dead pixel for as long as you have that tv.

                  Any confirmation of this?

Believe me you had better take that joker back and get a new one, because that dead pixel is not going to fade at all... And you are going to be pissed because you spent so much on that thing and it has a dead pixel..

You on the left, that pixel on the right.

Is it a dead pixel (always black)? Or a stuck pixel (stuck on a certain color)?

You could try the push method for stuck pixels - push on the area with a microfiber cloth. Kinda sounds like you already tried that from the avs thread though.

ummm, you could hook it up to a computer and try this

I don't think you can revive a dead pixel without a whole bunch of luck, but a stuck pixel can usually be coaxed back to life.

Only other option is to call BB and see what they say about an exchange within 30 days.

If it is new, Best Buy may send someone out to see you for free. Have you explored this option. I know the 95 mile trip would suck, but would it be worse than living with an expensive, defective tv?

A dead pixel is ONLY black? Well, my case might not be a "dead pixel" then. It's white and blends in with the game graphics when i'm playing a game like NBA 2k7, or Madden...or well, anything.

I guess it's a *stuck* pixel. I can only see it when the screen is black or when the screen is really dark. So you think that if I plug my PC up to my HDTV, and use that link, etc...I can coax it?

Like being said, it's a white pixel...it must be a "stuck" pixel then, if only dead pixels are "black." I really appreciate the help and info.

EDIT: I can't do this without a VGA cord though, correct?
