    DVD Ripping settings

Any tips on settings for ripping DVDs? I bought Magic DVD Ripper (saw it in a post here) and I'm ripping some of my DVDs so I can put them on my laptop when I travel. I've tried several resolutions and settings but can't get them to come out with what I think is a pretty good picture...basically, these are pixelating a lot. The file sizes are 900MB so I don't think it's cause I'm telling it to keep the sizes too small.

Not sure if you missed it but I mentioned another program I'm using I need help with...or from anyone using any other programs that rip DVDs and have similar settings.

I have DVD Shrink but I've never seen any option to rip to AVI...is that an option I haven't seen?

Anybody? If I need to use a different program feel free to suggest it. I'd just like to make my files into AVI's.

        Thanks.

I've never ripped a DVD to an AVI file, but I have ripped them to my laptop as a whole DVD backup (or sometimes just the main title) to take on flights and stuff. I used the previously mention program DVDShrink and then use a player like VLC media player to play the DVD back off the harddrive. With DVDShrink you can reduce a DVD to around 4 GB or so and keep good quality. If you have the harddrive space, that's an easy way to go.
