    Movie Recommendation Thread

Ok, I'm setting up this thread so posters can post a movie name, that they are either interested in renting or buying, but want to know what OSers thought of it.

    For example...

I went to the movie theatre last night, and my girlfriend and I picked up "Casino", and looked long and hard at "The Abyss", but ended up not getting it.

So I'm curious, what do you guys think of "The Abyss"?

I would recommend it for a rental. It isn't a classic by any means, but a unique movie with a few decent effects for a 80's movie.

      Serenity

Kinda enjoyed Firefly on tv, but not a big fan. I had wanted to see this in the theater but never got around to it. I read some good reviews and a few bad ones, so anyone got an opinion on it?

I'm pretty sure I watched "The Abyss" in Oceanography sophomore year, pretty cool movie. I'd say it's worth a rental.

Serenity is a good movie. I saw it having never seen a single episode of the series and I enjoyed it. I had somebody there helping me fill in the gaps of the plot that I would have known if I had watched the series, but I don't think that is even necessary.

I guess, as always, I'll recommend Equilibrium. I only do this because not too many people have gone out to see this movie, let alone even hearing of it. For a $20 mil movie, it runs up there with The Matrix in nearly every category VERY well.

Or, to build up for the sequels/prequels coming out this month, check out The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Grudge, Saw, and Saw II.

              I'll second Equilibrium.

Easily one of my favorite movies.

Another recommendation that I don't think many have seen: Tigerland.

I'd recommend Running Scared with Paul Walker. I absolutely love that movie.

Also, one of my favorite movies, The Life of David Gale. Both are excellent movies in my book.

                  Running Scared is pretty crazy.

                  Its just plain entertainment.

Running scared was crazy unpredictable, up until the last scene, where I knew what was going to happen. Otherwise, just completely awesome.
