Re: Beam me up Scotty!
It's still a good 30-40 years away. The idea of teleporting living objects is a nice one but it's very difficult to tear apart all the molecules etc etc of a human and put it back together again on the other side.
There's just way too many complications.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Beam me up Scotty!
This is what I have always wondered about teleporting humans; How could a living organism survive having all of its molecules torn a part? Even if you did somehow survive, it seems like it would have to be very painful at the least.Comment

Re: Beam me up Scotty!
Well there's the whole point about the spirit/soul. So let's say the physical body can be torn apart and put together again but the soul survives it.
Either way it's basically an impossibility IMO.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I think this will benefit communications more so than transportation.
If the technology can be mastered, our current form of transporting information digitally could become obsolete.
It'll take time, but I think it's the next step."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

You don't say Einstein! lol It will take longer then that, who is going to be willing to be teleported. Some body parts might not be in the same place lol.Comment

Easssssy, Bones. Do you really know that it's done at the molecular level.... or are you just quoting something from a Star Trek convention? lolComment
