Remember the Titans
Ok, this is probably the 2nd time in the past month that I've seen this on tv. They've played it, and I can honestly say I think this is one of the greatest movies ever. It's so moving with how the team gets together. Anyone with me? Anyone else think this movie is great? Always brings a tear to my eye when the team unites into 1. Makes you wonder why the whole world can't be like a football team.Tags: None -
Re: Remember the Titans
It always seemed a little too staged for me. Overly dramatic in parts. And the times when they broke into a song here and there appeared ill-timed, almost like a bad musical. It is, though, a great movie to teach kids about acceptance of other races, differences, etc. Friday Night Lights seemed to capture a real football team feel for me. -

In terms of football, I really don't think this was a football movie per se. I think it was mainly about how different races can come together as a team. How sports can bring people together. 9/11 was an example of us standing strong even through the toughest times.Comment

Love the movie. For football movies, it's #3 for me though.

Re: Remember the Titans
My step-father actually played on that season's team. We went to see the film opening night (only film that I remember him ever doing that with). He said that for the most part, the characters and the players were fairly accurate, although he did point out who some of the composite characters were and some of the flaws. A couple of the major flaws involved the singing and dancing, as someone mentioned, and the fact that the kid that got paralyzed didn't actually get that way until the night of the spring awards dinner. Overall, he said it was a great movie and is one of the 3 DVD's that he actually owns.
What I found interesting is the portrayal of the white players as being "southern." If anyone has ever spent anytime in Northern VA (as in just south of DC), they would realize that there is not a whole lot of southern going on there. In fact, I come from NoVA, and now live in Southwestern VA, and the people down here treat NoVA like its own state. That was my only complaint for an otherwise outstanding pic.Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment
