    All Time Most Scary Movie

In the wake of Friday the 13th, I want to know your all time top scary movie. Of course we're all guys in here, we dont get scared. But what is that one movie that gave you the chills when you watched it..... Made the hair on the back of your neck stand..... Gave you the shivers....etc, etc.

My vote would go to: The Excorcist

It does'nt freak me out now because I've seen it about 5 times now but I it did scare the hell out of me when I first watched it. What would be your pick.

Been a fan of horror movies my whole life. I had a subscription to Fangoria magazine as a kid.

Only a few movies ever had me actually scared -

The Exorcist (watched it alone at night when I was about 12 and got really freaked out).

The Shining. The 2 little girls used to really freak me out.

That's about it, though. I'm a sucker for a good ghost story, so The Others, stands out to me as being pretty spooky the 1st time I saw it.

Well, The Exorcist is obviously the scariest movie ever, and I won't even dispute that. But I have to give an honorable mention to Phantasm. After seeing that movie as a kid, the Tall Man had me too scared to play with metal balls for years. Hell, I even had strange looks for whenever I saw silver-colored marbles.

And let's not front on the original Jaws. People didn't look at sharks the same after this came out.

          The Exorcist

I find horror movies that incorporate religious themes to at least have more interesting premises then some of the more hack and slash types.

            Steel Magnolia

I cringe in horror just thinking about that movie.

I'd go with Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

But, what scares the hell out of me the most is Unsolved Mysteries. Its not a movie, but everything about that show scares the living crap out of me.

                Blair With Project.

I enjoy hiking, thus the movie struck close to home, and I found it to be realistically scary, instead of most of the Hollywood horror movies that are ridiculously fake.

                  Forgot about that one...

I enjoyed Blair Witch a lot, too, and found it to make the woods a little more creepy at night, right after watching it.

I agree with you, and this movie did just that. It did it to the point of being sacreligious. For me it's the scariest movie ever.

If you watched this while you were a kid, you feared that it would happen to you.

I agree on both points. As long as your talking about the original TCM anyway. That theme song on Unsolved Mysteries was enough.

I'm a fan of the slasher flicks, so movies like The Exorcist, while good, don't really scare the heck outta me.

Re: All Time Most Scary Movie

                        I have two.

The first is The Ring. I'm rarely scared by movies, I find most to be humorous (the slasher/unrealistic/pop-out-and-startle-you movies don't bother me at all). I have no idea why, but The Ring scared the bejesus out of me for at least 10 days. I was so afraid couldn't sleep or watch TV and was paranoid once the sun went down. I had a dream about that movie the first four or five nights after I watched.

I swear that thing was going to come climbing out of my TV.

The second for me is the Blair Witch Project. My sister was a sophomore at Boston University in '99 and was an art major and several of her friends were big into film. They had an advanced showing of BWP one weekend when I was up visiting my sister so we decided to go see it without knowing anything about it.

So the first time I saw this movie, I had absolutely no idea it was fake. In fact, her friends that did know it was fake played a trick on us and told us it was real. Of course after I learned it was fake and saw the movie again I wasn't even remotely scared. But watching that and thinking it was real was pretty horrifying.

Also, I didn't find The Exorcist too scary. The first time I saw it I was 14 and it didn't bother me. Same goes for Silence of the Lambs, which my parents wouldn't let me watch when it first came out cause they thought I'd be so scared I wouldn't be able to sleep for a month.

Unsolved Mysteries? Really? I can't say that show really scared me, maybe intrigued me, but not scared. I believe the host of that show has passed away.

The Ring and the Sixth Sense both scared the crap out of me.

The worst thing was coming downstairs the morning after watching the Ring, turning on the TV, and seeing nothing but static because our cable was out. My parents were wondering why I gasped in horror when I turned on the TV....

Yep I remember reading somewhere that during the film's original release that the movie theatres gave away barf bags and old women would be leaving the movie barfing and crying cuz it was so scary and sacreligious.
