    "The Office": Cinematography

To those that watch this show, are you a fan of the camera style used?
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

If you're talking about making it look like it's a documentary... yes, very much so. The whole Mock-u-mentary as a genre is very well done.

Yeah, it's supposed to be like a reality show. I love the way it's shot.

Absolutely. It worked very well in the British version and works well in the American version, too. It makes it feel less like they're "acting" and I love the way they will look right at the camera sometimes (this was very well done in the British version).

This is why I asked because I figured someone (all three of you apparently) would know why the style was used and its intent.

I've seen clips of the show and the style has left my head spinning. For me, way too much changing of focus and field-of-view.

However, considering what the show is about it makes sense.

I like it. It makes the show realisitc, which balances out with the extreme characters of the show. There was a shot last night that I thought was out of place. It was the long distance, wide angle shot of Dwight and Ryan in the beet field.
