    quick question about macbook

I recently got a new macbook and I want to know how to rip songs from my CDs into iTunes. It used to be that the cd would automatically appear in iTunes when I put it in the disc drive, but now I can't see it anywhere in iTunes, in fact, I can't find the CD anywhere. Help is appreciated.

Do you want to rip the songs so you won't need the CD to play the songs? Or do you just want to play the CD?

I don't think, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong, that iTunes lets you rip CDs becuase of copyright issues. I think if you want to rip a CD, you would need a 3rd party program. Check out download.com and search for high reviewed programs.

You can rip songs from a CD into you iTunes collection. Usually it pops up in iTunes for me and you can just rip them.

Yes, I want to put the music on my comp so I can play it without lugging around a CD case. iTunes does let you rip CDs, I did it for all my CDs (over 250 legally bought) on another computer.

And fishepa, I know what you're talking about, but nothing pops up. I thought I had to adjust my settings, but I was when using it at work today, I borrowed a coworker's cd and it instantly popped up. I'm curious what's going on here. I will work further with it later after work.

If it's one specific CD that you can't get to appear in iTunes, perhaps that one CD is copy-protected.
