    This Is Our Country

I have never seen one commercial played with such frequency as the Chevy commercials have.

John Cougar Mellencamp's voice has been burned into my head forever. Anyone else suffering like I am?

That commercial, and the Toby Keith "Built Ford Tough" commercials are terrible. I die a little inside, everytime I hear them.

I hate this freaking commercial. I actually watched a little NFL today and it was on nearly every bleeping commercial break. I thought it was only during the baseball playoffs, but evidently not.

The commercial is driving me crazy. I can't ever remember another commercial being so overplayed.

              Worst. Commercial. Ever.

I can't even watch sporting events on FOX anymore simply because Chevy is their main sponsor and that f'n commercial is played every ******* break. I can only handle hearing that no-talent assclown a handful more times before I go completely nuts.

The fact that Chevy tries to link Katrina and September 11th to their truck is pretty offensive to me.

For the first few times not bad, but yeah they are getting to be too much.

I'm sick of Toyota and Lexus commercials (Lexus is Toyota)...those are definitely overplayed.

I haven't seen nearly as many Lexus/Toyota commercials as I have seen the Chevy ad or the VW ads.

Isn't a song supposed to become a hit before it's sold for commercial purposes?

Mellencamp sold this tune to Chevrolet BEFORE his new album, which contains the song, was released. Hell, I don't even think the new record is out yet. Talk about selling out. It's one thing if the Stones sell "Start Me Up" to Microsoft 14 years after "Tattoo You" was released or Clapton sells "After Midnight" to Anheuser-Busch well after the fact, but selling a tune for a commercial before its album release?

                          That's f*cking lame.

But that's what happens when your career is in the toilet. You write a shallow, flag-waving tune that you know will play well in these times of faux-patriotism, and you sell it to a huge, flag-waving commercial campaign. Hell, Mellencamp probably already is booked to play at the 2008 Republican National Convention.

"This Is Our Country" is basically a rock version of Lee Greenwood's "I'm Proud to Be an American" -- a cheese-fest extraordinaire that will play well to everyone who slapped a "Power of Pride" bumper sticker from Wal-Mart on their car or truck Sept. 12, 2001 and became an instant uber-patriot yet never flew the flag Sept. 10, 2001 or earlier.

                          A crock.

                          Take care,
                          PK

Absolutely. And what the F*CK does the late, great Rosa Parks have to do with selling a pickup truck?

                            It's insulting.
