I'm writing this from the 5th-most dangerous city in the US. We're upset to have lost our crown, but have no fear that Camden will learn from this year's rankings slight and make a strong showing next year.

I just remember National Lampoon's Vacation when they get lost in St. Louis.

Clark Griswold: Scuse me homes, what it is bro. I was wondering if you could tell me how to get back on the interstate?

                Classic.

Thank you. On behalf of Mayor Slay I humbly accept this award. I only lament that I had no part in earning this prestigious award. I'd love to stay and thank all those that made this possible, but the sound of the gunshots in the background mean it's time to go.

DETROIT, MI -- We now join, in progress, the City of Detroit's official Press Conference about the release of this list:

                      ...
Detroit: ...that's all we can do.

Reporter: So, you're saying that you're not satisfied?

Detroit: Definately not. We've worked long and hard on this reputation and we're not pleased with the result. Do you realize all the police officers that we've laid off in the past decade? Do you know how much effort it takes to raise unemployment to this level? Do you think it's easy to put gun stores, liquor shops and casinos all on the same street? We've really put a lot into keeping this title. Of course we aren't satisfied.

Reporter: So, what went right this year?

Detroit: Good question. Too much really. I like to blame the Tigers and the Super Bowl for a big part of it. It's always more difficult for our highly skilled muggers and carjackers to do their jobs when the crowds downtown are so big. A nice crowd of 8,000 at a Tiger game last year left us a lot more openings in the danger department. We're just thankful that the Lions crowds of angry drunks will keep us from falling any further down the lists.

Reporter: What do you have planned for 2007?

Detroit: Danger. Lots and lots of Danger. Oh... and Wrestlemania.

LOL. Still 2 out of 3 cities ain't bad. Didn't realize the World Series was a battle for the right to be called the most dangerous city. Had no idea St. Louis was this bad.

You know the world is screwed up when a nice midwestern city is the most dangerous in America.
