anyone has experience with Best Buy's Product Replacement Plan?

    Hey guys,

Looks like my XBOX 360 has bit the dust (upon start-up there is snow on the picture, games freeze at the title screen and can't play any games anymore). I did buy a two year replacement plan from Best Buy and wanted to hear anyone's experiences with actually taking some thing back there to have it replaced. My questions are:

    1. With a replacement plan, do they try to fix whatever is broken or just simply give you a new XBOX 360 right there on the spot?

    2. If they do not have any XBOX 360s in stock to replace, do they give you a gift card in exchange?

    3. If they do give you a new XBOX 360, is it still covered under the old replacement plan or do you then have to buy a new plan?

Thanks in advance. I know I should not be stressing over this.

They will exchange it for another one and I would guess they will have them in stock. If they don't, you will probably be told when they will have one. You will have to buy another warranty for your new system.

These are questions you should ask when buying a warranty.
    NFL: Tennessee Titans
    MLB: Cincinnati Reds

I just replaced mine last week. I was worried about it also. I packaged it up in the original box, which I still had, and brought it right to the service desk. She gave it to one of the Geek Squad guys who took it out of the box and plugged it in to test it, and yup 3 red lights. So, they told me to go back to electronics and pick up a new one and bring it back to the service counter.

They even opened it right there in front of me and put my old hard drive in the new box so I had all my game saves. I asked about buying another warranty and she said I didn't need to, that the two years covered from date of purchase even if I needed to replace it again within that two years. She gave me a receipt and that was it. Probably the most painless thing ever. Can't recommend it highly enough. "Oh, it is broken...here is a brand new one." Simple as that.

I used to work at BB in the gaming area and I'm pretty sure you have to buy a new PRP on your new Xbox unless you replace it within the manufacturer's warranty.

Also, they may not exchange it in the store. They may make you call the number on the PRP pamphlet and send it to their processing center where they will check it out and send you a gift card if the PRP is accepted.

Of course, a store manager can override this if they wish and pretty much do whatever they want with the customer.
