Bill Maher's always been a tool. I would say that hopefully when he dies people would wear costumes of him, but then again, nobody would really care that much or even really know who you were dressing up as.

So I guess it would be okay to dress up as:

1. A soldier blown up by an IED.

2. Cory Lidle with a propeller in his head.

3. A strangled JonBenet Ramsey.

You get the point.

It's about having an ounce of respect and common deceny. What do you say to your kids when they ask you who and/or why you are dressed like that for Halloween? What do you say to Irwin's kids about why people dressed like that?

it's halloween. That's the one day decency is basically out the window. What about people making dummies on their lawn with a giant rock over where their head would be and gallons of blood everywhere? Hanging dummies for trees, etc...

As a black male in America, I would seriously find something extremely offensive with that move whether it was just a quick gag, a funny joke among frat boys, or whatever. Clearly this country, this nation has degraded in so many ways that it's ridiculous. When it is pointed out, peope defend it. That's funny. I don't celebrate or participate in this holiday because of what it represents. There is no good that comes from this holiday in my opinion but that's another topic. It's the ignorance that makes me sick of holidays such as this. Very cool to dress up for self-gratification but sometimes idiots don't realize that what they do sincerely affects those aroud them. Defending insincere actions makes one a.......

Maybe he shouldn't have been doing all the **** he was doing. You invade a wild animals space, and they are going to react like a wild animal/fish etc.

Now I'm not saying you shouldn't research these creatures and learn more about them. But his schtick ran out quite a while ago.

I almost went as steve irwin, but all the people doing it made think of something else to do. Let me jsut say that Maher wasn't the only one to dress up as irwin.

You have to be joking! That is wrong. He died and that tool has the idea to come as Steve with a stinger in him. That is wrong no matter what you say bro! Think about his kids and wife that have to see that!..

oh please I saw 10 of these last weekend. people have really tripped on steve irwin, i guess he's the new cobain. im not a bill maher fan (though i disagree with his show being taken off abc) and im not a irwin ***** but i really dont get how sensitive people are about irwin.

about the father thing. my dad isn'nt apart of pop culture and its a one year bit. Noone would get it after this year anyway. Plenty of people do Halloween costumes for shock value and thats why when you go out and see all sorts of crazy stuff. The bin laden costume is pretty old at this point but i still see it. But to contradict myself and so you cant use it, being bin laden in say 01 or 02 is classless and poor taste. But the difference between the two should be clear.

Grow up, what about his kids having to see that! That is wrong no matter what you say. The guy is dead there is a difference.

No one would dress up as a 5(?) year old girl who was killed on Christmas Eve for Halloween.

I don't really know of anyone who would dress up as a soldier injured in the line of duty.

I just don't find the connection between someone dressing up as Steve Irwin who was killed swimming with a sting ray.... Sting ray.

Seems like it's too hard to grasp for some strange reason which makes me wonder just how degraded our society is. I personally think that Irwin died doing something that was beneficial for society by informing. Honestly, it is along the same lines as Jon Benet and a soldier who died in the line of duty. An innocent person trying to live life who just gets it cut short. Though many think Steve should have died a long time ago, I think that he was "smarter than the average bear." He had to know a thing or two about animals to be hanging around them all this time and not get injured. Heck, he had his kid around the reptile a few months/years ago.

Respect is a thing that is slowly eroding with time. It's weird because it's almost non-existent unless forced upon. Of course we're all entitled to our opinions which is what's pushed within this society. However, if you guys can't seem to understand the unreasonably heartless act of disrespecting an animal-loving icon who died an untimely death just because of the self-gratification for trying to get a few laughs for a unique Holloween costume, you might need to turn off the television and really think about where your morality has gone these past few years.
