Definitely, and I say the Ford Music video can be Blake, Melinda, and Jordin doing Staight Outta Compton.

Re: *** American Idol: Season 6 ***
Probably the first week that it's a tough choice. Based on performance I'd say Blake should go. But since he's a young guy against 2 woman I think he could get the teenybopper votes, as noted above, and make it to the finals.
I'm pulling for Jordan. She just looks more what like an Americal Idol should look like IMO.Comment

Yeah, Blake actually impressed me somewhat this week. The problem is, Melinda and Jordin are solid at all parts of a song and any song. Blake sometimes hits and other times doesn't. I think Melinda wins, though. Any song thrown at her no matter what style is always solid.Comment

They're all winners at this point though. I'd almost rather not win at this point because then you're not saddled with having to release the lame-as-hell single like Taylor and "Do I Make You Proud" last season.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Perhaps if it was the 1950's. She is a good singer, but she has nothing else to make her a star. The 'aww shucks' routine got old fast (even if it was purely genuine). She brings nothing new to the musical table and she never stepped outside of her comfort zone. Blake deserves to go farther based on the willingness to do that alone.Comment

Re: *** American Idol: Season 6 ***
It's a shame because she's great, but I'm not all that surprised. She and Jordin split the black female old fashioned R&B vote, while Blake got all the teenybopper vote and all the white contemporary male pop vote. Talent-wise it should be the two girls in the finals, but they just split each other's vote and that allowed Blake to slip into the finals.

Re: *** American Idol: Season 6 ***
As far as the teenybopper vote, that vote is assumed to be the female teenager vote, which Blake definitely got. Remember, the kind of crowd that makes garbage like the backstreet boys popular? (Realizes that this is why I don't like the show, BB's were pop music to the highest degree..)Last edited by UNC_Pete; 05-17-2007, 07:21 AM.Comment

Melinda can sing, but her voice is stuck in the Motown era. If Motown makes a comeback then she will be a star, but other than that she doesn't have the range to step out of songs that aren't older than herself. As for the show being a singing competition, it is more of a competition to find a pop star. Besides if American Idol didn't think Blake and Jordin were their meal tickets one of them would have gone home.Comment
