Well, just got an xbox 360. Unfortunately the timing is bad at the moment to get a HDTV to really utilise it. For the next few months anyway so I thought about using my PC monitor just for those few months. That's fine with me since it's a 19" and has a max resolution around 2000xsomething so it can handle it. Here lies the problem.
The monitor has an attached VGA cable meaning the 360 can't plug into the back of it. I was shattered because I have a good monitor and didn't want to buy another cheap one just for this so I did some researching.
At the moment, I have the 360 VGA cable with a 'male' end on it and a PC monitor also with a 'male' end on it. The two don't go together obviously. Reading around the net I found that I can get an adapter with two 'female' ends on it so I can connect the two 'male' ends together and connect the 360 to my monitor. Problem solved, great but hopefulyl someone knows about this stuff because I'd want to know this before I do this.
Could this be bad for my 360 and/or the monitor? Could a 'female' adapter in between somehow stuff either the machine or monitor up? Would it be a certain signal and then switch as it goes through the adapter and then switch back again only to switch once more before it hits the monitor?
I suppose I'm just asking is would it work really and would if possibly affect picture quality or even go as far as damaging something?
If anyone knows anything on it I'd be very appreciative. Honestly, got the 360 today and am waiting before I fire it up on a standard TV to see whether I can do this or not. I'd rather play it in HD before settling for standard as it could be for the next few months if this doesn't work.
Thanks.
