Re: Music decade battle?
Considering you've probably only been around since 2000, the debate probably boiled down to arguing points that someone read on the internet and citing albums as classics and best ever, despite never hearing them.
That said, I know very little, if anything about the history of music, but The Wu Tang Clan was formed in the 90s, so the 90s win -

So much for keeping my opinion down lol... 60's is what I said. Mr. Old Timer Soldier trys makin me feel stupid. Hate to tell you I am a total 60's junky.
I mean they had Hendrix/Beatles/Dylan/Marley and the beginning of the Stones, Kiss, U2, and all those bands. So the main arguement came down to 60's and 80's.Tony Romo for President.Comment

Ya dude...U2 wasnt 60's my man. My favorite is the 80's. Thats the decade of my "wonder years" so those songs have pretty much been the soundtrack to my life.Comment

I know that. I meant that the 60's gave them the music needed to start up. I gave them a reason to become a group.Tony Romo for President.Comment

The 80s..and it's not even close.
The RANGE of completely different sounding music in the 80s is unprecedented.
The Cure, The Smiths, The Police, Devo, Van Halen, soooo many great one hit wonders. The 80s rocks.AUBURN TIGERS

Re: Music decade battle?
I'd have to agree with this. My musical tastes are more in the soul/RnB, Country, Jazz and Blues vein but I appreciate a lot of other music. The thing about music tho is that no one decade maintained its high quality standards for the full 10 years so you're forced to go with a 10 year stretch like that.
As for people finding it funny that others debate music made before the people weren't even born, Well maybe i'm in the minority but 99% of the music I listen to is from the past. I've always loved the creativity and the actual use of you know, INSTRUMENTS!
So yeah my answer is '65-'75 but if you're going to force me to go with an actual decade then i'd go with the '60s. The '70s great achievements get cancelled out by the rise of disco in the latter part of the decade. (not that disco is really bad per se. It actually is the foundation for house and other dance type music we have today) Disco just permeated the music industry at a time when music sales were at their lowest so it only rose to the top because quite frankly there was nothing else.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
