I just think not many people will really need to upgrade to Vista, if they're in it for the slick looks.
Me personally if I can download a hacked version of DirectX 10 for XP, I find no need for the upgrade to Vista. And from the Tech forums I visit this is inevitable.

I use Office 2007 right now. It's pretty sweet.

        Re: Windows Vista

I have done some work for microsoft for their sales team for the vista release, so i have had my hands on vista for a long time now. I for one dont like it. They try so hard to copy Macs style and functionality, but in the end i think it will be too confusing for most of the end users. It is a resource hog as well; you better have a new up to date computer. Also, you need a dvd drive to install it as well, otherwise its something insane like 30 cds.

Up to date as in, playing FEAR, or up to date as in "It is a nice computer! I bought it 4 years ago for $1,000!"

Going out on a limb here, but if you don't care enough to update a $20 disk drive, I doubt they care enough to update a what, $300 piece of software.

I have used Vista RC2, and it is pretty nice, but currently VERY incompatible with a lot of software and hardware I use. I expect this to be worked out before release, but if it isn't I'll certainly pass on this for a while. However Mac OSX Leopard looks damn good.
