It's $160 with the coupon plus it comes with a King Kong HDDVD and a universal remote. So basically it is $100 and ALOT cheaper then the Toshiba HD-DVD player.

guys, i just picked this up the 360 HD DVD Player. i can still watch my old dvd's in this correct? but it wont upconvert them to HD, correct?

correct man, You should enjoy its great with HD movies and the Regular movies are just fine.

actually forgot, i did pop a regular movie in last night lol. but when i read this thread it slipped my mind, doh!!! i put in miracle on ice and wow not jumping off the screen at me in HD, it looked pretty dang good to me!!

i had the rca or jvc lol cant remember upconvert player last week for a day or 2 but then took it back. i got the HDMI cable and everything so it could upconvert and it didnt look any diff than just playing in the 360 itself..

If your 360 is connected through VGA then your regular DVDs will be upconverted.

i do have the VGA cable.. but, on my sony bravia kdl32s2010 the colors and all looked washed out (while gaming). component looks alot better.. maybe i will just hook it up back there and when i watch movies just plug the VGA cable in to the 360 just for that..

also, is there an official Xbox 360 Hd DVD Player Thread anywhere? i did a search and this is all i could find!!

You're not the first person I've seen who said that. It's weird cause many are also reporting a better image quality when playing through VGA. Mine's been fine although I haven't even tried component on my HDTV set. I haven't noticed any washed out colors though.

It probably depends on scpecific TV models' handling of VGA. Have you tried adjusting the color settings? Most sets have separate settings for each input, meaning even if you nailed good color settings for your component input those settings won't be used when using the VGA inut.

This may be a dumb question, but have you tried adjusting the colors on your TV? The first time I hooked up my 360 to my TV via VGA cables, the colors looked washed out as well. I adjusted the color temperature and what not, and now it looks fine.

yeah, i adjusted the colors etc.. but didnt spend a whole lot of time doing so. i'lll look into this a lil later on tonight and see what i can come up with..
