There's too much time to fill on the air waves these days, be it video or audio. Listen to sports talk radio...... devoted 2 day to Bobby Knight flicking the chin of one of his players. Look at MTV et. at. and the dumbing down of their "entertainment" value. It's easier to be stupid than creative. Everybody tries to find an angle. Unfortunately, you have guys like Springer and Stern and all their cronies who have found a market whereby you can exploit people and make a profit, because there are the saps in this country who will drink it in. Pitiful.

Always? I'm not saying there's never been stupidity in entertainment. I would though wager that with the increasingly dumbing down of our values in our society as a whole, the entertainment industry has both reflected it and catalyzes it.
