    Hit a pole

Don't know if this is the right section of the forum to put this in.

I hit a pole last night. Was just curious to see how much you think it might cost to fix the car.

The lid of the trunk was already messed up.

The way my driveway is set up, there is a small, two space parking spot off the driveway, which has a basketball goal in the middle of it. One day my brother hit it with his car, dented his door up bad. My dad and my brother bought some dent removal kit and it worked perfectly. I don't remember the name of it, but it had that OxyClean guy on the package.

I once used a large toilet plunger to pull a dent from the center of a door on my old Ford Ranger pickup. Worked just fine. There was a very small indentation and scratch at the epicenter of the dent, but you really had to look to see it after I pulled the dent with the plunger.

          Cost to me: $0.00.

          Take care,

Call your local Fix-A-Dent or Dent Wizard Franchice. They fix those kind of minor dents on average for $75-$100, depending on the area.

That dent is not the kind that could be pulled out with a plunger like device IMO because it is not on a flat surface. As for how much it costs to fix, it depends on how pristine you want it to be when it's fixed. If you just want that dent out i'd say $200-$300, but if you want the paint touched up and any rubber (if there is rubber around the bottom there) restored I'd say that's a $500 job at minimum.

How'd you manage to hit it with the side of the car?

And I don't think that is something that can be fixed by yourself, like in pk's situation.

lol...dude that is NOT a minor dent... If you want your car restored the way it was before, it looks as if you'll have to replace the rear .25 panel...maybe find one @ a junk yard or order an new one which will cost! i don't believe THAT can be pulled out to look as if nothin' happened, w/out body work imo. were you insured?

Yeah I had a quarter panel with a similar "dent" and it cost $1700 to fix, albeit I was insured so the price didn't matter as much to me and i also had a bit more paint damage requiring a complete repaint of the car.

The insurance company didn't try to raise your rates? No deductible?

Well no because I had a clean record for the past 6 or 7 years and it was some old guys fault for causing the accident not mine. I did have to pay the $250 deductible though but at least i got it fixed and my car repainted (although I learned one valuable lesson, spend extra money on your car's paint job, getting a "bargain" and saving a few hundred bucks is not worth it.

But yeah I also learned that what looks like not that big a deal when it comes to car repair isn't always not that big a deal. I would have guess my car cost about $400-$500 to fix, imagine my surprise when it rain nearly $2000 (and yes I shopped around extensively, I think I got 9 quotes).

If there's damage underneath and possibly to the frame, you're looking at at around $2,000. Mine was similar looking damage, but when they found out there was damage underneath, it considerably upped the cost. and if you plan on selling the car, you need to fix it because people will find out and that would significantly lower the value of the car.
