That list just proves how poor the acting on the female side is these days.

      I was wondering about her.

I wonder what Helen Mirren makes per picture. She can act anyone on that list off the screen. But she's old and English, so she's not an eight-figure actress. A shame.

There are countless other great actresses not on that list because they don't command big box office. People like Frances McDormand, Annette Bening, Samantha Morton and my favorite, DIANE LANE!

I don't think Kidman is overpaid at the top of the list. For every paycheck movie she makes, she follows with a low-budget indie one so it evens out.

The only actresses on that list that I think will ever star in a movie with a less than $40 million budget in the future are Kidman, Theron and maybe Dunst.

If Mirren, Morton, McDormand, Winslet, Blanchett, etc wanted to be on that list, they would express more interest in starring in a big budget picture. Winslet could demand that Titanic 2 be made and she would magically appear on that list.

I'm sure they don't mind. They get to live comfortably, pick whatever projects they want, win more Oscars, and they don't have to be on some list for us average people to envy.

It's not that the female acting is poor. It's that movie-goers prefer looks over acting.

Well that makes it a bigger indictment because back in the Golden Age of cinema the women were for the most part ok looking but not bombshells. Not that there weren't very sexy leading women back then but beauty back then was more personality driven rather then all physical.

So I guess this makes moviegoers today shallow and dare I say it, stupid.

                  Yea, basically.

By the way, Ginger Rogers is the first person I think of that was both beautiful and a great actor. Of course, that's my opinion.

Today, a lot of the great female actors aren't stunning enough to be in the big budget films in lead roles.

                  Names sell.

Ava Gardner -- Now there was one beautiful, sultry, brassy chick. She was the only star ever to dump Frank Sinatra, which tells you something about her moxie. She was one of the biggest female stars in Hollywood in the 40s and 50s.

She also ditched Hollywood to go live in Spain, party all the time and do the horizontal rumba with bull fighters.

                    A dream woman, no doubt.

Ah PK I saw THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA the other night and there's a scene where she's on one of the character's yacht. She takes off her robe and is wearing a nice bathing suit. It's pretty tame by today's standards but she was HOT LIKE HELL!!!!!

She was a darn good actress too.

I'm still trying to catch up on those older classics.

I'll have to check out some Ava Gardner movies.

Damn, Gardner was married to Mickey Rooney, Frank Sinatra, and Artie Shaw.

                            Nice collection there.
