    Time's All-Time 100 Albums

All I have to say is, "Definitely not."

      What a lousy list.

Terrible list. How can you put greatest hits or compilation albums on a list? They're not all-time great albums.

Well, to be fair, given the era of the artists who are represented by Greatest Hits albums on that list, they would be completely excluded otherwise. Remember, the likes of Hank Williams and Elvis never saw a full-blown LP release. Every major release during that time was mostly through singles and the rare EP. Would it be fair to stand something with two songs -- the A-side and the B-side -- up against some of those albums on the list which have upwards of fifteen or so tracks? Or would it be fair to have a list of "greatest" anything music-related without the artists in question being present in some way? Personally, I completely agree with the mindset that compilation albums do not qualify, but it's just something to take into consideration.

Yep, I thought they maybe made a mistake, but...They have "Ready to Die" but forget "Illmatic". Man, how could they do that? "The Marshall Mathers LP" and the "The College Dropout" but not "Illmatic"? Definitely boneheaded.

Horrible list. Where is Dark Side Of The Moon?
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

They put Funkadelic's 'One Nation Under a Groove' on there. That album's either a mess or a smorgasboard, depending on how you look at it. Parliament's 'Mothership Connection' is more representative of the P-Funk sound.

No Dark Side of the Moon means this list must surely be some April Fool's joke in December.

You have hit the nail on the head my friend. And that statement applies to any album, any song, any artist, any list. Everyone's would and should be different.

Music lists don't have strength of schedule. THere is no "right" or "wrong" answer. If somebody thinks the backstreet boys are the greatest artists of all time, then so be it.

Music Nazi's aside, nobody can tell them they're wrong.

The only thing I like about this list is the potshot they take at Pink Floyd in the heading. Not because I dislike Pink Floyd, mind you, but because you don't expect smarminess like that from Time magazine.
