    HD DVDs

I see that Miami Vice is coming out with a HD DVD also. Can these movies be played in the XBOX 360s with the HD cables and get the effect of high definition?

If you have the HD DVD player, yes.

How else would you get HD without the cables?

I think he's asking if you could play these movies in the 360, the answer is no because the 360 is a regular DVD player, to play HD-DVDs you have to get that $199 add-on.

That's why I told him he needed the HD DVD Player... Oh well.

Jim, you will need the HD-DVD Player for the 360........it's $200 and it will play the HD-DVD movies through the 360.

Will the 360 "upscale" without the HD DVD player? Is upscaling possible with component cables and not HDMI?

I just got a 32" LCD TV and I still use my PS2 as my DVD player. It doesn't do a good job on this TV - it was acceptable on my 27" tube but not now. I don't know if I should buy a better DVD player or just wait to get the 360 and potentially the HD DVD player later on. I'm still hoping for a super 360 bundle/price drop in the summer time.

I had read good things about a Panny upscaling DVD player but that's $100 plus I need to buy an HDMI cable so I'm not sure if I want to spend money on that when I can just buy a true HD player later.
                  Thanks.

If you have VGA cables hooked up to your LCD TV, yes, the 360 will upscale normal DVD's without the HD DVD player.

How does the 360 look playing regular DVDs? What do you use EG?

I use my DVD player for regular DVD's up to about a week ago, I'm now using the PS3 for movies. Since I re-did my setup, and the PS3 being so big, I removed the DVD player from my setup.
