I agree, it seems like a lot of people have collections of singles and hits from a variety of artists via mp3's. Hell, some kids might even have tons of whole albums but never listen to 'em.

I have around 650 albums on my PC and I'd say I've spent a "great deal of time" listening to around 500 of them all the way through over and over again. I'd say there are at least 100 of 'em that I know every lyric to every track, which are basically the albums that I bought at a store. Part of the problem is that no one makes whole albums anymore for the most part, too much BS filler these days. Couple that w. short attention spans and viola!

That being said, I love the organization that iTunes creates with it's folders and the like. iTunes is just an excellent program all the way around.
I agree, by far the best music player. Period.

        I'm a WMP guy.

        I really like version 11.

WinAmp is a lean program with a ton of options for audio quality. I use the Lite version, absolute bare bones.

No video player can touch VLC. Nothing is even close. You can throw damn near ANY format at VLC, and it will play -- without any codec downloads. It's the Swiss Army knife of video players. Plus it's free, and the picture quality is excellent.

You're missing out if you're not using VLC.

I remember when VLC first came out and everyone said it was the most spyware-ridden program of all time.

I finally DL'd it a few months after it came out it's been amazing as hell ever since - plus it's never caused a single problem for my PC.

I think younger kids just have a hard time affording a bunch of CD's especially when you can listen to a lot of music online like on myspace.com and purevolume.com.

I use iTunes and I think its great.

Question about iTunes - is it safe to use if you have some "not-so-legally-obtained" music? I dl'ed it but read the licensing agreement you have to accept before you install and I didn't like the part about Apple being able to share data they gather from your computer.

I don't think my collection is too shabby -- not quite everything, but you get the idea.

A lot of my iTunes library wasn't acquired by "legal" means, if you will. That being said, I don't have any worries or concerns with using it. There's no way of telling how you acquired the MP3s, they could be illegally downloaded, or they could be MP3s previously ripped from a CD you already own. I don't see what the big deal is.

Not to shabby, but I def know about a dozen people have who have a shelf five times the size of that of albums. One kid has something similar but w. vinyl. Crazy.

Oh, believe me, I'm not calling it massive by any stretch of the imagination. I was just saying that there are still those of us out there who prefer iTunes, but still have a vast collection of actual CDs.
