It may have been the John Lennon song mentioned earlier, but there is a song that goes ... "So this is Christmas ..." I like that one.

Anything by Harry Connick Jr. He's got two Christmas CDs that are great, especially the second one. His jazzed up version of Silver Bells is just a great example of what he does.

Pavarotti is great - Ave Maria, etc. George Michael did a great Christmas tune "Last Christmas" that people are actually covering now. I guess it makes it a classic. Debbie Gibson's sleigh ride is also good.


For the more obscure music we might not hear too often:

Vince Vance & The Valiants. They have a Christmas CD and "All I want for Christmas is You" is a great upbeat version.

Lastly, the Gatlin brothers were a country band years ago (I don't like country) but they did a fantastic Christmas album with a lot of harmony and no country stuff. It was called Gatlin Family Christmas and the song "Sweet Baby Jesus" is a song I've only heard sung by them that is just great. The album is only about 1/2 hour but easily worth it.

I think Mariah Carey's xmas album is nice all around. It was made when she was still a slut in the closet and could still sing.
