Lost Finds a New Timeslot
ABC shifts its Wednesday night schedule, moving Lost and pulling Day Break.
Despite becoming a big hit and a hugely discussed and debated show among its rabid fans, ABC's Lost hasn't stuck around a specific timeslot for too long. Its first season the series aired Wednesdays at 8:00 pm, before moving one hour later to 9:00 pm in season two. The series is currently in the midst of a mid-season hiatus, but will be back in February. However, when it returns it will be in its third timeslot so far - Though still on Wednesdays, the series will now be airing at 10:00 pm.
The move is due in part to the impending return of FOX's juggernaut American Idol in January, which airs a Wednesday night edition at 9:00 pm. While Idol trounces every single series it goes up against, ABC is also mindful of CBS's Criminal Minds, which has found a remarkably large audience in the same Wednesday, 9:00 timeslot, and had in fact begun to beat Lost a couple of times this season.
