Just make sure you research the person performing the surgery, my mom had LASIK about 5 years ago, the surgeon ****ed up her eyes and now her eyes are a lot worse, she sees triple images, and she can't see well at night (so she can't drive at night).

Agreed. The places that are reputable you'll have NO problems and they'll stand by their work and most likely give you free touchups if your eyes change down the road. The place I went has done over 500,000 surgeries and my particular doctor had done more than 60,000 or something crazy."Well the NBA is in great hands but if I had to pick the single greatest player on the planet, I take Kobe Bryant without hesitation." - Michael Jordan, 2006Comment

Re: Laser Eye Sugery
Had mine done 2 years gone...I now have 20-10 vision....couldn't have been happier with the results. For anyone who wears glasses next time you go to buy that high-ticket item think about using that money towards Lasik, it really is a life changing experience. I remember for me it was big screen TV or Lasik...got the Lasik and got the TV about a year later...it was worth the wait on the TV to not have to mess with contacts or glasses.
As far as the actual procedure, I was nervous but knew it was worth 5-10 minutes of fear for 20+ years of good vision (had it done when I was 23). I also recommend going to someone reputible. I paid almost $3k for mine but that's not something I was gonna be cheap about.Comment

Re: Laser Eye Sugery
Nothing. Your eyes are fine for life - it never "wears off". They tell you that you don't have to wear glasses for another 25 years but once you hit the 45-50 age range, everyone will start to need reading glasses. This affects EVERYONE, even those who had perfect vision their entire life. LASIC is not a long term worry. You can even correct the need for reading glasses later on through a separate and different procedure called CK (don't know the long named version).
And some insurance companies wont cover it, as they view it as cosmetic surgery.Comment
