Anyone pick up a Zune?

Re: Anyone pick up a Zune?
Well, I can't pick one up because I have a Mac and its not compatible
That said, I've read a bit about the Zune and I think its on the right track but even if I had a PC I'm not sure I'd pick one up yet.
I like the design and the menu system looks cool. The Zune's screen looks pretty nice, but the body a bit clunky, IMO. I've read there are some concerns about how the Zune does not sync with Windows Media Player....but I don't really know programs people use to organize their music (other than iTunes, winamp maybe?). Overall, I think it looks pretty good with some slick user interface.
IMO, the wifi feature at this point is a gimmick. I just can't see people regularly using it to share music, especially when the file transfers take a while and it stops your Zune from playing music. Plus is drains the battery big time. Now, I could see it being used if people could download songs from their service via Wifi straight onto the Zune. That would be cool, but even then, I don't see people using it regularly.
All in all, at this there are a few things that make it stronger than the iPod, the big one being it can play more video formats and also slightly better battery life (i think i read that). Negatives I see are that there is no downloadable video content as of yet, the biggest capacity is only 30 GB, and Zune viruses have already popped up.
I'll be interested to see what Microsoft does to improve upon the Zune, and see what other types of players it makes to compete with the Nano and Shuffle."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

Another big negative for the Zune is lack of podcast support....but I'm sure Microsoft will add that."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

I got one and I like it. There is another zune thread somewhere with a few of us giving impressions.Today I realized something. I'm a clown. A class clown... and it sickens me. - Bart Simpson (The Simpsons)Comment

Or your iPod is about 4 years old, with a desperately failing battery and not enough HD space.
I'm getting some surprise consulting money, so I think Santa might be bringing me a Zune.5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays
