Re: 2006 Album of the Year
I guess my personal album of the year was Liberation Transmission by Lostprophets cuz that's the one that I listened to the most. Not sure how much it really belongs in an album of the year discussion though, cuz when it boils down to it it's pop rock, but alas.
Out of the ones listed in the poll, I voted for My Chemical Romance's Welcome To The Black Parade.Comment

Re: 2006 Album of the Year
Damn good album. But I'm afraid DBT will be saddled by the brilliance of "Southern Rock Opera." Every record the band releases will be compared to "Opera," which will be tough to match.
Here's a 2006 record I completely forgot and definitely will be in my top five: "The Town and the City," Los Lobos.
Like DBT and "Southern Rock Opera," Los Lobos is saddled by its brilliance. The band never has put out a bad album in the last 25 years. It's sad that many people know Los Lobos only from its cover of "La Bamba." On a list of Los Lobos' 25 best songs, "La Bamba" would come in at No. 26 or lower.
Take care,

Re: 2006 Album of the Year
I haven't heard enough of Doctor's Advocate or Hip Hop is Dead but the Blue Carpet Treatment was surprisingly good to me. Best Snoop album since Doggystyle and I actually like it better than the Ghostface.
I probably would say Future Sex/Love Sounds as best CD. Gnarls Barkely was certainly really interesting but after listening to it too many times, it grates on me. Continuum was really good. Sam's Town wasn't consistent enough.Comment
