Looks intriguing, but also a little hokey at the same time.

23 great flavors in Dr. Pepper. At the end of the 23rd period, the score is tied 23-23. What is the square root of x/y? 23! Coincidence? Maybe my idea that Dr. Pepper is the devil has been right all along...Comment

Movies like this are my bread & butter because they always make you think there may be more to life than what is on the very surface. Also they make you wonder about sanity and seeing things from the perspective of the possibly insane. I often wonder about some of the people in insane asylums, if some of them have genuine knowledge of things that make society paint them as such. Anyways, i'll be there right on opening night for this one.
Wonder what the Dr. Pepper commercials will do if this movie makes people paranoid about the number 23, LOL!!Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

But, I've always felt some remorse for those considered insane mainly due to the fact that they are "insane" because it isn't what we deem normal. What is normal? We all behave so differently, but any type of thinking that is extreme is considered insanity.
Insane people (again, not the crazy killer types) are just people that see things differently than the greater portion of the population. I often wonder if they are brought down and given medication to conceal their theories, thoughts, and wisdom from "normal" thinkers."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The Number 23
As for the movie: just saw the trailer and definitely interested in watching this.
Never really liked Carrey's comedy. Way too over the top. Instantly became a fan of his more serious ability when he made Cable Guy. Happy to know he continues to pursue that genre, though I understand why he'd make a comedy here and there - it is who he is.
Just thought of this one connection. 9-11-2001. 9+11+2+1 = 23. I'm sure it means nothing, but just thought it was interesting since it relates to the movie in this discussion."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: The Number 23
Definitely my perspective on some insane people (not all, because some are just lunatic killers that enjoy seeing blood and gore).
But, I've always felt some remorse for those considered insane mainly due to the fact that they are "insane" because it isn't what we deem normal. What is normal? We all behave so differently, but any type of thinking that is extreme is considered insanity.

For instance people that can hear voices and see spirits. We automatically deem them insane. Probably 99% of them are quite insane. However, if you at all believe in the Bible then I ask, how would those same people you revere have been regarded today?
This makes me think of another movie that basically is a great example of this arguement: Frailty. That movie nailed this entire philosophy. Also, a good number of people with high IQ's are the ones who go mad, why is this? Myself I have a very active imagination and have tested out as pretty intelligent. Does that make me more susceptible to true madness or does it allow me to see and understand things that the ordinary person does not?
It's a fascinating subject to say the least.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: The Number 23
As great as this movie looks, I wish there weren't as many "sums" in finding the number 23. I wish it was varied a little bit more.
I also hope that we didn't see every coincidence that he finds in that trailer.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
