    Pocket PC?

I started my new position a little over a month ago at the company I've been at for 6 years. I'm in a project management role and I've been using sticky notes, spreadsheets, + MS Outlook to keep track of my projects. I'm looking at getting a Pocket PC to start storing that information so it can help me get even more organized.

Can anyone recommend a good Pocket PC for me?

I've been looking at this one:

    HP iPAQ RX1955 Pocket PC

I see that this also plays MP3's too and has a slot for SD Card. I can't find how big of a card that this could accept, as I would like to store music on it also. I have an IPOD already, but would rather like to just bring this to work than the IPOD.

    Re: Pocket PC?

Candy, HP makes a good Pocket PC although i've never cared about their looks. My suggestion is to go to Office Depot or Staples and check out the complete line of Pocket PC's. Toshiba makes a good one as well.

One other suggestion is to ask what version OS does it come with? Typically Microsoft will release a new OS in the Spring time.

p.s. I think Dell still carries Pocket PC's.

Which one do you have Rod?

I'm looking for one that will also be fully compatible with MS Windows + the Office Apps so I can sync back and forth.

The last time I had a Pocket PC was 3 years ago and it was a Toshiba. Pocket PC's today are pretty generic as they all do the basic stuff. What differentiates one company over the other is the style of the unit, hardware extras, and software bundles.

My suggestion is to go check them out. Pick one up and play with it. Make sure it feels comfortable in your hand and it has a good layout as far as buttons go. If your doing project mgmt you might want to check to see which ones have a built in voice recorder. That's if you do a lot of meetings and don't want to take notes. It's a useful feature, you can always transfer those audio files back to your PC at home.

I think there's also software that will even print out from an audio file, not sure if Dragon software does that.

          Thanks for the suggestions Rod.

I also popped over to Dell like you suggested and they actually have some nice Pocket PC's. Yes, like you mentioned, there are a few features that I want in this thing. I'll take a stroll to Staples or Office Depot to check one out. I guess both Best Buy and Circuit City aren't carrying much of these anymore as their sites don't have much of anything.

I have a model close to this:

            http://www.amazon.com/HP-iPAQ-hx2795...&s=electronics

And I love it. The security is awesome too - fingerprint scanning is great. It's secure, and it's a lot quicker than typing in passwords with the stupid pen.

Does it matter on the Mhz, I was looking at some that were around 400Mhz.

I notice that you can put a 2-4GB SD Card in some of these also, which is a nice deal.

How well do apps like Excel and Word operate on here?

I wish there were more people with some tips/advice on getting a PDA.
