    Josh Groban - Any Fans?

Another other fans of Josh Groban? If you haven't heard him, check out these three videos. Absolutely beautiful voice.

Honestly, he has one of the best voices I've ever heard. His range is absurd.

I just found a video of a a LP cover (My December), and I have to say...it's amazing.

Not a fan, but don't dislike him. I like his My December better thank Linkin Park's.

This song though, one of the best Christmas songs ever recorded IMO. I love it.

love 'Oh Night Divine" although he's supposed to say "Oh Night, When Christ is born.." but doesnt.

I hate how the world has turned this way. People cannot practice their religion harmoniously without criticism. (ie: Now its Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas).

Some people, think those here at OS, are more loyal to a team or nation than a religion, and we get along fine, so hopefully we can start saying/acting/singing w/e we want with the support of those indifferent to us.

On O Holy Night, Grobin does say "Oh Night, When Christ was born, about 2 or 3 times. He just developed his own words to the verse and refrain on the second verse. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Actually, I've heard more people in public, Wal-Mart, etc.... say Merry Christmas this season.

        Groban's voice is golden.

            Wow his voice is amazing.

My December is awe inspiring, I've heard You Raise Me Up before, but never a live version and WOW.

He has a great voice but I can't listen to him. Sure he has great range, but soul is more important IMO. And IMO, his voice is lacking a soulful element.

My favorite singer is Patrick Lee Michaelis from Bipolar, they are a hard rock band.

Listen to Chemical Dream and Miscomm...

Back to Groban. The guy has an AMAZING gift of a voice. It just isn't my style or to my liking. I can appreciate what he has though as a musician and singer myself. I just wish he would, 'leave it all on the table', just one time. I wanna hear his voice rumbling from emotion, or cracking from emotional overload. I think if he allowed that to happen to himself his voice would be 10x better.

My parents are going to see him live in a month.....they're pumped.

He does have an unreal voice.

Re: Josh Groban - Any Fans?

Agree with eXperiment. Groban has a fine voice, but he is to vocals what Satriani and Eric Johnson are to guitar playing. They're technically damn near perfect, yet they have no soul, no fire, no passion in their music.

I'd much rather hear a guy like Frank Sinatra sing than Groban. Sinatra had a sense of phrasing unlike any other singer who has lived. Just listen to a Sinatra song and try to sing along. In some cases, just when you think he's going to sing the next word and should sing the next word, he doesn't and puts it in a place you didn't expect. Or he sings it in a way you don't expect. But it works -- perfectly.

That's because Sinatra learned his vocal phrasings from listening to jazz players, such as trumpet and saxophone players. He listened to their improvisation and timing and thought, "Hey, I can try to do that with my voice." And after time and endless practice, he did it -- better than any other singer who ever tried.

Unlike Sinatra, Groban is classically trained. His singing is pitch-perfect, but he hardly ever varies his phrasing or the tenor of his voice other than a vibrato. It just gets repetitive after a while, much like a Satriani guitar solo, even though it's technically sublime.

                    Just my 14 cents!

I honestly don't see what the big deal is about Josh Grobin he only blew up because he was on Oprah. By the way Nat King Cole was better than Sinatra even though he doesn't get the credit.

Nat King Cole was the king of smooth and an absolute giant. But he didn't have the phrasing or intonation of Frank. No one did.

I have to agree, after listening to his voice it just seems flat. There's no quality to it that grabs you. I really dont see what the big deal is about him, there are alot more talented singers out there.
