    Upconverting DVD Players

Thinking of buying a player now that they're cheaper. Is there are really a noticable difference in picture from 480P progressive scan players for SD movies? Is it the middle ground between a SD and HD image or am I wasting my money?

I think at this point, it's a waste of money. Wait and buy a HD DVD or Blu Ray player. They do the same upconverting, plus give you actual High definition dvd.

I bought an upconverting RCA player at Walmart for 70 bucks a few months ago. I have a 23" Sammy and I really can't tell much difference between the 480p, 720p, and 1080i that it puts out for a SD DVD. I agree with EG - if you want to see HD from disc media, get the $200 add on for the 360 if you have one for HD-DVD.

Just keep in mind, the 360 HD DVD player will only upconvert SD DVDs if you are using a VGA output to your TV.

I recently got a Toshiba upconverting DVD player for $65. I notice a little improvement on the picture quality on some DVD movies compared to the 360.
