Re: No shopping for a year?
And what the f*ck is their point, other than to draw attention to themselves?
Vain azzholes ...
Seriously, how does shopping hurt the world? Do these whackjobs realize that the businesses that produce the goods that we purchase employ millions of workers around the world and let them feed, house and clothe their families? Consumerism, where you must have everything today, is bad. But basic shopping for needed goods? Give me a f*cking break.
What a bunch of morons.
Take care,

Re: No shopping for a year?
What's so wrong with what they're trying to do? I don't understand how you guys could have so much venom for anyone trying to pursue a cause they believe in even if it doesn't involve hurting anyone else.
It's nowhere near as extreme as the "freegans", who I think take things way too far. But as far as the group Compact is concerned, I think it's a good idea, trying to resist the impulse of buying unnecessary goods simply because they exist for your own convenience. It doesn't seem to me that they are against buying necessary goods, as long as they are necessary or deemed necessary by them, just the goods that are easily within reach yet they have no need for. As far as I'm concerned it's a noble social experiment, though I probably wouldn't join them anytime soon.
I just wonder at all the hatred for this, when there are far dumber things that people do in the world today that end up hurting others.Comment
