I think you mean you couldn't care less.

Sports Halls of Fame make sense, since sports performance is very quantifiable via statistical analysis. But having Halls of Fame for things like music or movies just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It'd be like giving awards for the funniest jokes of all time. Different things sound good or are funny to different people and there's no right or wrong answer. Once you get past the universally regarded greats (like Elvis or the Beatles), everything is subjective.

Unless you just induct people based on who has the most corporate success, but that's not really the point now is it....

I am shock that KISS is not in. I thought they were in already. People can talk crap about Kiss all the, but they are still a great band. With some good songs.

Since people are asking about KISS, I decided to go to the source on this one. I know a guy at work who is basically the living embodiment of all things KISS, so I asked him what the deal is on KISS and the R&R HOF. Just so you know who you're dealing with here, this guy has a working stage, complete with life-sized KISS figures and full pyrotechnics, that he keeps in his garage and totes out onto his lawn to stage shows for the neighbors, complete with loud music, fireworks, and flames.

        His response....

The real story is KISS is a band of the people. The critics (ie the rock and roll hall of fame voters) hate them because they are popular with the people. They still hold the US record for most Gold albums ever. They were voted the most popular band in the world in the 1977 Gallop Poll. They have broken the Beatles attendance records in Japan. I have seen them over 80 times beginning in 1977 and still to this day, every time I take someone new to see them, they walk out of the “show” saying it’s the most amazing thing they have ever seen. That includes Dead heads, Zeppelin fans, Incubus fans, Jimmy Buffet fans, etc.

What's interesting is that Gene Simmons is rumored to have financed one of Van Halen's first demo albums.

KISS belongs in there. You have to be ignorant to deny this band's influence in Rock and Roll. They are the Great American Rock Band.

No doubt I've seen interviews with Gene saying the release of Alive was a HUGE risk (for then Casablanca records) due to money, and no band had any real success with releasing a double live album,or live album period.
What's funny about all that though,is Kiss still wasn't popular. It wasn't until AFTER the release of Alive when the bands popularity skyrocketed.

He did finance the demo (I believe) He also flew Van Halen to New York to meet with Bill Aucoin (then Kiss manager) to get them a deal with Casablanca.
