Re: 100 Greatest Guitar Solos
Glancing at this list, I thought it didn't include live performances until I saw "Crossroads" by Cream.

1. Stairway to Heaven
Good, but extremely overrated. How did I know it was going to appear #1 on the list (though I don't agree with it)?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

That's from the September 1998 issue of Guitar World. I've got my copy right here. I even remember sending in my ballot.Comment

Re: 100 Greatest Guitar Solos
As awesome as the solo for "One" by Metallica is, I'm not even sure that that's THEIR best solo.
As for the rest, I mean, they're pretty obvious, and they're all excellent.Comment

Re: 100 Greatest Guitar Solos
IMO the winner should have been..Voodoo child(slight return) by Jimi Hendrix. That whole song WAS a guitar solo as far as I'm concerned! I picked up a guitar about 25 years ago and started playin' that thing because I was moved by that song, his material in general, and a host of other bands. But for some reason,I needed to learn to play that song simply for the power and emotion it omitted. Opinion is subjective and I'm putting mine out there now for Hendrix.Last edited by coffeeholic; 01-08-2007, 11:33 PM.
