Glancing at this list, I thought it didn't include live performances until I saw "Crossroads" by Cream.

6 for Hendrix, I like it.

      Good list.

        1. Stairway to Heaven

Good, but extremely overrated. How did I know it was going to appear #1 on the list (though I don't agree with it)?

That's from the September 1998 issue of Guitar World. I've got my copy right here. I even remember sending in my ballot.

As awesome as the solo for "One" by Metallica is, I'm not even sure that that's THEIR best solo.

As for the rest, I mean, they're pretty obvious, and they're all excellent.

There's no way in hell Smells Like Teen Spirit belongs on this list.

IMO the winner should have been..Voodoo child(slight return) by Jimi Hendrix. That whole song WAS a guitar solo as far as I'm concerned! I picked up a guitar about 25 years ago and started playin' that thing because I was moved by that song, his material in general, and a host of other bands. But for some reason,I needed to learn to play that song simply for the power and emotion it omitted. Opinion is subjective and I'm putting mine out there now for Hendrix.
