    Linksys Router Question

Where exactly do you go to put a password on your router so people can't access the wireless connection?

Which security setting should I be using?

EDIT: Also, I've already changed the admin password, but a guy in my dorm has reported picking up my wireless signal and using it for his laptop.

You can't use a password to stop one from using your wireless signal. You can only use a password to stop someone from accessing the Admin settings.

If you don't want him using your wireless then use some sort of security measures. Setup WEP or WPA on the wireless router. WPA is more secure, but I think either will deter him from using your wireless signal. You could also use MAC address authentication. Only allow the MAC addresses you want to use the wireless signal.

Yeah, no idea what a MAC address is.

A MAC address is like a fingerprint. It identifies a piece of network equipment.

                    Re: Linksys Router Question

Go to linksys.com, they have some PDFs that tell you exactly what you need to do. Search for MAC filtering or WAP secruity.

I believe Linksys allows you to change your router IP, but out of the box all the ones I've seen have 1, but it may be that it isn't standard.
