For those that listen to Of Montreal, I saw this and cracked up.

Thanks BG, I haven't checked this thread since I last posted. I really like the cover art. I have all their albums and I still think that SEASONS has to be one of their more well rounded albums yet. NEXT was also good and a return to their heavier style. I just heard the first 2 singles on their myspace account, "Driven" and "Deathstar". I like "Driven" much better than "Deathstar", but should hopefully should be a good album.

I can't wait for some new Disturbed, Chris Cornell

For those who are looking forward to Linkin Park...

The anticipation and rumors about multi-platinum Grammy award-winning Linkin Park's third studio album were finally answered today, with the announcement that the record, entitled Minutes to Midnight, will hit stores May 15th on Warner Bros. Records/Machine Shop Recordings. Co-produced by Mike Shinoda and 2007 Grammy Producer of The Year Rick Rubin (U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Run DMC), Minutes to Midnight was recorded at the infamous Mansion at Laurel Canyon and is already being touted by critics who have heard it as the band's best and most important work to date.
The first single, "What I've Done," will be released worldwide April 2, 2007.

“We have put more into the new album than anything we have ever done before,” says bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell. The band spent over 14 months in the studio and wrote more than 100 song demos in the making of Minutes To Midnight, an album which vocalist Mike Shinoda sees as, "a breakthrough in the development of the band's sound. We wrote in new ways, and used instruments and equipment we hadn't experimented with, from vintage guitars and amps to mellotron to Rick's original 808 drum machine he used on the Beastie Boys first record. We tried to question every step in our songwriting process." Producer Rick Rubin agrees, "They really are reinventing themselves, it doesn't sound like rap-rock. There's very strong songwriting. It's very melodic...a progressive record."

The coming weeks will see the launch of LPTV, a series of webisodes that can be viewed on www.linkinpark.com. The series will focus on “unseen footage of the history of Linkin Park, building up to an inside look at the studio experience of the new album,” says Farrell. Linkin Park will headline the second day of this summer’s Bamboozle music festival on May 6 in New Jersey before embarking on a headlining European tour in June. Next month, the band expects to announce plans for "a summer tour with an un-missable lineup," says Shinoda. “I know that’s not a word, but this tour is worth making up words for.”

Linkin Park is Chester Bennington (vocals), Rob Bourdon (drums), Brad Delson (guitar), Joe Hahn (DJ), Dave “Phoenix” Farrell (bass), and Mike Shinoda (vocals). They have earned two Grammy Awards, the first for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2002 with their hit single “Crawling” and the second for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Jay-Z in 2006 for the innovative “Numb/Encore.” Linkin Park has sold 40 million records worldwide since their debut in 2000. The Diamond-Certified Hybrid Theory has alone sold more than 18 million copies. In addition, Linkin Park established Music For Relief with the Red Cross in January 2005 to help aid victims of world catastrophes and combat global warming. Re: Music You're Looking Forward To in 2007

Got my mitts on Wilco's upcoming album, "Sky Blue Sky," last night.

The band streamed the entire record at 256 kbps last Saturday night on its Web site, and, of course, someone ripped the stream and made it available at the usual sources. Since Wilco is my favorite band, how could I resist?

I've listened to the record, oh, at least seven times since last night. It's really, really cool and a different direction for the band.

"Sky Blue Sky" is decidedly more low-fi than "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" or "A Ghost is Born," but it's not a return to the alt-country roots of "A.M." or "Being There." Not even close.

This is the first Wilco studio record with avant-jazz player Nels Cline as lead guitarist, and the sonic difference from previous recordings is very obvious. There is some VERY cool guitar noodling on this record, the best of any Wilco album by far.

And this noodling fits within the quieter, "pretty" nature of this record. When you cut it to brass tacks, many of the songs on "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" and "A Ghost Is Born" were folky songs drenched in sonic devices and gimmicks. The records really weren't as avant-garde as critics would like us to believe, but they were still damn good. I dug them!

Cline's work blends into the songs better than the sonic devices of the last two records. Those tended to jar the senses, almost screaming, "LISTEN TO ME, DAMN IT!" Cline's work is more subtle, and it takes a few listens to digest all of it and appreciate it.

When I say this is a "pretty" record, Wilco fans shouldn't fret. Jeff Tweedy hasn't gone Sarah McLachlan on us. This is just a more relaxed record than the last two records. Under Cline's guitar work, some of the cuts on this record also sound as if they could fit on a Tweedy solo record. Unlike everything from "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" and before when Tweedy shared creative vision with Jay Bennett, there's no question who's in charge on this record.

"Sky Blue Sky" proves that Tweedy and Co. remain restless when it comes to music. After two albums of similar sound, the band has moved on to its next phase. And I like it.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this record. Admittedly, I'm not the most objective source when it comes to Wilco!

Standout tracks so far: "You Are My Face," "Impossible Germany," "Side With the Seeds," "Walken," "On and On and On."

The album is due for commercial release May 15.

                      Take care,
                      PK

                          Big bump I see.

Sky Blue Sky, I think, is a little dull and flows together too well - there's not much division between songs. I will admit the guitar interplay is awesome, but it is also part of the reason why all the songs sound very similar to me. While I'm listening to the album, the music is really good, but when I'm done I find that none of them have really left an impression on me.

Anyway, Spoon's latest album comes out July 10th. It was leaked several weeks ago and the impressions have been really positive, so I'm super excited.

By the way, the new Ryan Adams album "Easy Tiger" is superb. A great country album.

However I am dying for the Rilo Kiley leak: "Under the Blacklight". . I have a feeling it's going to be my most favorite album ever. The official release is August.
