I think Ben Foster and JT give good acting performances.

    Everyone else is subpar, yeah.

      Truth?
Some scenes I did in fact find corny, but it was a SURPRISINGLY good film. I came into it with no expectations at all, and it completely took me for a ride.

I didn't like it... I just didn't buy the leader kid as a badass when it looked like I could kick his ***...

Justin Timberlake annoys me although I liked his character the most.

I don't wanna see this movie again, but I wouldn't call it bad.

That's the whole point! It documents the true story of a suburban "gang" who have nothing better to do than pretend they run ****. I wish all "tough guy" suburban kids could be forced to watch this, to show them how foolish they all look.

oh yeah, good call. I saw this movie a little bit ago, just didn't leave a huge impression. "tough guy" suburban kids are so ignorant though, that they wouldn't get it if you showed them this movie. They really wouldn't.

                  Re: Alpha Dog

I just watched it on HBO tonight and it's a pretty solid movie. I don't know if I'm quite sold on it because it is kinda like one of those "typical teen films" with drugs and sex everywhere, but the story is deeper and really picks up steam toward the end.

JT did do a nice job acting and I think he got a good role, I don't think he had to really try to hard to fulfill the expectations of the role he was given so it was more of a natural adjustment.

Yeah, I watched this a while back. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "good" movie - I'm not gonna buy the DVD or anything - but it was worth watching and kept my interest. Definitely a solid rental.

I just saw the movie on HBO and it was actually pretty good. I didn't think Timberlake was that good in it but he did OK.

I was pretty suprised by how much I enjoyed it. Justin did well enough.

I saw this a few weeks ago. I liked it. But I'm also a sucker for true stories like this. Kinda reminded me of a suburban gang version of Blow.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
