Any word on the battery life of this thing?

5 hours for talk and video.
15 hours for music.


I will be in line to get this. It has everything i need. Phone, itunes, web capability. I don't like Cingular and I don't like the limited battery life. But the thing serves what I am looking for.

If thats what you want, then you're not the consumer that apple is trying to market the iphone to.

When apples CEO introduced the phone, he made it very clear that he didn't want this product to be a portable, full-functioning computer. Its your phone + music + movies + photos + web, which is what they believe the majority of people will want.

I think its a good strategy because the two hottest gadgets out are 1. cell phones and 2. iPod. Now, how well it will sell I'm not sure. Even though I think you get a good value for what you're paying, its still expensive

Yes it certainly is expensive at 499.99 and 599.99? If this is going to be a phone for non-business use, I think it's outrageously priced.

However, it's Apple, and Apple has done an excellent job of marketing thier products as hip and sleek. Everyone will want one.

All cell phones are ridiculously expensive at full retail price.

That being said, the iPhone seems like it could provide value to someone that doesn't have an iPod yet, and is up for a new contract and phone.

If Cingular allows users to get insurance on the phone, it will be an even better value for the consumer.

I agree its expensive, but like I've said, I actually think its a good value for what you're paying, if that makes sense.

I have a Treo 700p from Verizon, that I bought back in June for school. That was $399 with a 2 year contract. The features on the iphone blow it away, and the iphone is a much better value. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that there I programs on the palm I have to use, I'd be regretting the decision.

By not dropping it, by not putting it in the same pocket with change or keys, by not dragging it across the table. Basically by treating it well.

Not that you were doing this, but I love how people basically don't take care of their devices(cell phones, ipods, etc) and then blame the manufacturer for the scratches on it. If you don't want scratches, dont subject things to scratch-creating situations!

Accidents happen.

I'm not one of the people that blame it on the company (actually, i've never run accross one of those people); I fully blame my clumsiness for dropping my phone as much as I do. Bottom line is people do drop their phones and Ipods and stuff.

That's my biggest problem with this Iphone. If I got it, which I probably never will (although it would probably go GREAT with my Macbook), I'd have to baby the thing like it was a... baby. If I were to get this thing, I would need full leather case with flip back screen cover, belt clip, neck loop, airbags, and that technology they have in their laptops where they brace themselves for fall.


Knowing Apple and their supporting (or should I say "leeching?") companies, though, they'll have a ton of accesories and cases to go with the Iphone.

I just dont want to have to guard my phone with my life.

As long as it's not made as cheap as the Ipod then I'll give it a fighting chance. That Ipod was made like a piece of junk. Dropped it the first day I had it and it was busted forever. Piece of crap.

4gb or 8gb is not really enough to take advantage of the video ipod mode.

i hope if anything there is a screen sensitivity option to change.. imo buttons were made for a reason. internet browsing seems slow.

its definetly a nice all in one device. but i rarely listen to music seperately from when i need my phone. so two devices is just fine for me. there really isnt a desire for this device. i think others will feel the same way.. they all already have much bigger video ipods with a nice cellphone plan with all the data plan charges out and known. i just dont know if consumers will drop what they have for this item.
